Mark your calendars! The Marpole Business Association (BIA) is excited to present the tenth annual Marpole Chinese Lion Tour, in celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Pig in 2019.
The Chinese Lion tour will take place on the Third Lunar Day of the New Year – Thursday, February 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM along Granville St.
In partnership with Angel Entertainment Management, the Chinese Lion Tour will be an exciting cultural celebration for the Marpole commercial district and community. Residents and kids of all ages are encouraged to come out and follow the Lion’s progress as it walks up and down Granville Street giving blessings to businesses and the community at large.
The Chinese Lion is a colorful visitor to our community, performing its dance and blessing as it accepts the offering of a lucky red envelope. Several businesses display traditional offerings of lettuce which the Lion devours and then showers on spectators for good luck.
